:: My artworks are multi-layered spatial puzzles; I explore the domestic not as the mundane, but as the inexplicable -- as the setting where our emotions are formed, memories developed and stored. I am interested in engaging a realm of vulnerability and innocence we often find uncomfortable although it is as commonplace as a thought.
I construct video collages of people. Concentrating on the movement of a person in the flesh and through imagination and memory, I portray all of these levels physically by compiling fragments of image, movement and sound, which unfold over time. Employing the proportion of fairytale, I reshape the human into a kinetic object in a collage. I am not creating a narrative, but an expression of a dream reality.

:: Dance Dance Doll of Mine is based on a short story by Hans Christian Anderson. I employ the realm and proportion of fairytale to explore ideas of home and childhood. I have built a miniature house that hangs in the middle of the gallery. A dvd player hides inside of the structure. As spectators peer inside the windows of the house they discover the video, which is part of the story in a very intimate setting. Conversely, two other videos of a child playing are projected in an oversized format behind the dwarfed house.
My goals of the project are to stimulate the audience’s memories of childhood evoke their appreciation of its fragility and beauty as they actively assemble the story exploring the physical space. The work has a sense of childhood’s humor and frivolity mixed with the lyrical adult realm of dream and reality.
